Walking in God's Wisdom and Favor
Proverbs 3:1-8

1 My child,[a] never forget the things I have taught you.
Store my commands in your heart.
2 If you do this, you will live many years,
and your life will be satisfying.
3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.
4 Then you will find favor with both God and people,
and you will earn a good reputation.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8 Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones.
Reflection:
Do not forget the Lord's teachings; keep them safe in your heart. This command echoes throughout the Bible, as seen in the Psalms, where it instructs us to write God's commands on the tablet of our hearts. These teachings will grant you a long life and prosperity, ensuring that God is with you throughout your journey.
The passage also encourages us to bind love and faithfulness close to our hearts, letting them be our constant companions. Just as we are to engrave God's commands on our hearts, so too should love and faithfulness be written there. If you do this, God will find favor with you, just as He did with Moses.
We are called to trust in God rather than relying on our own understanding, for God sees and knows all. When we submit to Him, He will keep us on the right path. We must not be wise in our own eyes, for the Lord's perspective goes far beyond what we can see. By following these principles, God will keep you in good health and protect you all the days of your life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Help us to remember and cherish Your teachings, keeping them safe within our hearts. May we bind love and faithfulness close to us, letting them guide our actions and thoughts. Teach us to trust in You with all our hearts, leaning not on our own understanding but submitting to Your perfect wisdom. Keep us on the right path, and protect us with Your loving care. May we live in Your favor, experiencing the peace, prosperity, and health that come from walking in Your ways.
In Jesus' name, we pray,
Amen.
